Job Title: Campus Security Guard
Reports To: Site Principal
Position Summary
The Campus Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role includes monitoring campus activities, protecting district property, enforcing school policies, and responding to emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Security
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.
- Patrol campus buildings, grounds, and assigned areas regularly.
- Monitor surveillance systems to protect facilities and assets.
- Ensure doors and gates are secured and opened at designated times.
- Observe and report violations of safety and health codes.
Student Supervision & Behavior Management
- Monitor and regulate student behavior in common areas (cafeterias, restrooms, parking lots, etc.).
- Assist in managing classroom disturbances and student conflicts.
- De-escalate situations involving students, staff, or parents before administrative involvement.
- Detain students for suspected violations (e.g., narcotics, tobacco, alcohol) as authorized.
Incident Response & Reporting
- Respond to emergencies including threats, medical incidents, accidents, and criminal activity.
- Investigate incidents and prepare detailed reports.
- Coordinate with administration and law enforcement agencies as required.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure proper documentation approval.
Campus Operations Support
- Direct traffic and enforce parking regulations on campus.
- Supervise school events and after-school activities.
- Assist with fire alarm responsibilities as assigned.
- Work collaboratively with local police, fire, and emergency services.
Professional Conduct
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Demonstrate sound judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Present a professional appearance at all times.
- Follow all district policies and administrative regulations.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience in private security or law enforcement preferred.
- Knowledge of school safety laws and procedures (including search and seizure) preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required.
- Basic First Aid knowledge preferred.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Demonstrated understanding of security procedures.
- Basic computer proficiency required, including:
- Email communication
- Report writing and documentation
- Navigating and monitoring online security systems
Special Requirement
- Firearms are strictly prohibited during the performance of duties.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Perform physical activities such as climbing stairs, kneeling, squatting, and reaching.
- Full use of hands and fingers for tasks.

Safety & Health Knowledge
- Understanding of universal precautions (e.g., bloodborne pathogens).
- Basic First Aid and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training.
- Safe operation of motor vehicles.
Equipment & Technology
- Ability to operate or learn to operate surveillance systems and other multimedia/technology equipment.
- Utilize computer systems for communication, reporting, and security monitoring.
Work Environment
- Work in varying indoor and outdoor conditions, including noise and temperature changes.
- Frequent interruptions and occasional high-stress situations.
- Requires flexibility, patience, and self-motivation.
Work Schedule Expectations
- Must be available to work at least two (2) nights per week, including weekends, as needed for school events and campus coverage.
- Required attendance at three (3) annual evening events: Homecoming, Prom, and Graduation.
- May require additional after-hours or event-based work.
Terms of Employment
- Salary and work schedule determined by the Board.
