About the company

The Berkeley City Club is an architectural masterpiece, designed by architect Julia Morgan. The building functions as a private social club, hotel, event and wedding venue. We also have a French restaurant, Julia's, open to both club members and the public. Established in 1930. In 1927, a small group of women felt the need for a center around w omen's activities and had cherished the plan of bringing this into being in Berkeley. From 1927-1929, three membership campaigns took place to bring the membership up to 4,500 women. Upon opening in November 1930, it was the Berkeley Women's City Club, which became a center for social, cultural, recreational and family activities in the East Bay. The vision of the founders was recognized as a important civic asset during a period of growth and enthusiasm in Berkeley's history. The Berkeley City Club is a historic hotel, private social club and event venue. It has been accepted into the National Register of Historic Places and is a member of the Historic Hotels of America.
