Principal
Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Reports To: Executive Director
Location: Willie Jeffries School of Excellence

Position Overview:
The Principal serves as the chief executive officer of the school, responsible for the overall academic, operational, and cultural leadership. This role involves strategic planning, staff development, student achievement oversight, and community engagement, ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the school's vision and strategic plan.
  • Oversee curriculum development and instructional practices.
  • Manage school operations, including budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Ensure compliance with the South Carolina Department of Education standards and charter school regulations.
  • Foster a positive school culture that promotes student success and staff collaboration.
  • Engage with parents, community stakeholders, and local organizations.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff performance.
  • Coordinate professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Address student disciplinary issues in accordance with school policies.
  • Monitor student progress and implement intervention strategies as needed.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Educational Leadership or related field.
  • Valid South Carolina Administrator Certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in educational leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of South Carolina state education laws and charter school regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively; sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Work Environment
This position operates in a professional school environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and instructional materials. Noise level is typically moderate, but can be higher during student-centered activities or events. Occasional local travel for school-related functions may be required.

FLSA Classification
This position is classified as Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is in accordance with applicable federal and South Carolina labor laws.
