About the role

POSITION SUMMARY

The Library Assistant will be responsible for assisting patrons at the circulation desk at Meadowlands and/or Paramus locations. Will also be trained to provide back-up services for the Media desk. The successful hire will check library materials in and out, explain library policies and procedures; assist with catalog and Internet searches; perform stacks and collection maintenance, monitor and complete shelving and shelf reading; assist faculty and students in the use of computer/media equipment and materials; other duties as assigned.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education: Associate's degree or equivalent

Experience: one year library experience required; experience using a multi-faceted integrated library system or equivalent. 

Other: be able to work at the Paramus and Meadowlands locations.

  • Excellent customer service, oral and written communication skills; 
  • have an ability to work well within a team
  • Work independently
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Basic computer trouble-shooting skills

HOURLY RATE AND BENEFITS:
