Job Opening: Behavioural Counsellor

🔹 Job Summary
Vidyashilp Academy is seeking a qualified and experienced Behavioural Counsellor to provide behavioural and emotional counselling support to students. This is individual contributor role, focused on direct student support, assessments, interventions, and collaboration with teachers and parents, in alignment with child protection laws, school SOPs, and ethical counselling standards.
🔹 Key Responsibilities
1. Counselling & Intervention
- Conduct individual and group counselling sessions for students across grades.
- Assess student needs and support the implementation of Behavioural Intervention Plans (BIPs) in collaboration with teachers, parents, and relevant staff.
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution support, strictly following school SOPs and child protection protocols.
- Work closely with teachers, special educators, and support staff to identify and support students at risk.
- Coordinate with parents and external mental health professionals/NGOs for referrals when required.
- Support case discussions for complex cases while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
2. Training & Awareness
- Facilitate awareness sessions and workshops for students, staff, and parents on mental health, emotional well-being, stress management, and child safety.
- Provide guidance to teachers on classroom behavioural support strategies and best practices.
- Stay updated on developments in child and adolescent psychology, trauma-informed practices, and NEP 2020 guidelines.
3. Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain accurate and confidential counselling records, case notes, and student progress documentation.
- Prepare periodic reports on behavioural observations and counselling interventions for internal review.
- Ensure compliance with legal and ethical requirements, including mandatory reporting under POCSO and adherence to school SOPs.
🔹 Qualifications
- Master’s degree (or PhD) in Psychology, Counselling, or a related field; Good to have.
- Valid counselling certification or professional registration (where applicable).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in school counselling or child psychology.
- Experience working with ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, and emotional or behavioural challenges.
- Strong understanding of child protection policies and legal compliance in school settings.
