About the role

Melbourne Based Candidate Is Preferred, Sydney/Perth/Brisbane Also Considered.

Beanstalk is a leading ventures and advisory firm dedicated to driving profitable and sustainable agrifood systems. Bold founders and innovative agribusinesses turn to us for insights, capital and connections. In an uncertain world, we work together to harness technology and meet the challenges of the future.

We are a specialised team of agrifood strategy, innovation and commercialisation experts working across the Indo-Pacific. We believe our food system needs reinvention to feed a growing global population on a healthy planet, and we are working hand-in-hand with innovators, agribusinesses, and public sector leaders to make it happen.

Our role is to catalyse the adoption of new technologies and build capabilities that help to unlock our ability to produce nutritious food in a responsible, ethical and sustainable manner.

Everything we do directly drives long term community, ecological and business resiliency. Our 5 pillars of impact are:

  • Building enterprise resiliency
  • advancing circularity
  • Enabling a ‘nature positive' food system
  • Promoting safe and secure livelihoods
  • Ensuring food and nutrition security

About The Role

We're on the lookout for a high-performing, entrepreneurial, and impact-driven individual to join our team.

This is not your average role — it's a chance to work at the intersection of innovation, agriculture, sustainability, and venture building. You'll be engaging with a cross-section of the agrifood ecosystem — from startups and investors to government and global agribusinesses — all while shaping work that matters.

As an associate, you will be working within a team to deliver agrifood innovation projects across Australia and Indo-Pacific region. You will be working with stakeholders from startups to multinational corporations. Like peas in a pod, we're a small and tight team with necessarily big ambitions to grow and fulfil our mission to create tangible impact across the region.

Requirements

  • Support the execution of client-facing and venture-building engagements, including research, analysis, stakeholder mapping, workshop support, and delivery of high-quality outputs.
  • Own and manage your own workstreams and timelines while contributing to the broader project team's success.
  • Develop client-ready materials, from presentations and memos to Excel models and ecosystem visualisations—bringing clarity and structure to complex topics.
  • Engage directly with clients and collaborators, helping facilitate interviews, workshops, and communications with professionalism and insight.
  • Contribute to business development, including background research, proposal development, and pitch support.
  • Supporting community-building initiatives with partners across the ecosystem, raising the profile and interconnectedness of our Beanstalk team.
  • Support internal initiatives, including developing tools and templates for broader team management, contributing to culture-building, or helping shape Beanstalk's impact strategy.

Bring thoughtfulness, care and curiosity, contributing to our culture and helping make our team—and our work—better every day.

Qualifications, Skills, Experience & Attributes

  • 1-3 years of professional experience, ideally in consulting, innovation, venture support, development, agribusiness, or a similarly fast-paced, impact-focused environment.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to turn research and data into structured, compelling insights and recommendations.
  • Experience managing components of a project, with the confidence to juggle multiple tasks, timelines, and collaborators.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity—you're happy to define the path as you go, not just follow one that's laid out.
  • A team player who thrives in collaboration, is generous with feedback, and values a respectful, curious working culture.
  • Genuine interest in food, agriculture, innovation, and/or sustainability, across Australia and the Indo-Pacific region.
  • Strong presentation and writing skills, with a high bar for quality and clarity in all forms of communication.
  • A builder's mindset—you're excited to help shape what we do and how we do it, not just execute tasks

At this point, we hope you're feeling excited about the job description you're reading!

Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they can perform every job description task.

Even if you don't feel that you meet every single requirement, we still encourage you to apply.

A positive attitude and willingness to learn are the most important criteria we look for. We're eager to meet people that believe in our mission and can contribute to our team in a variety of ways - not just candidates who check all the boxes.
