POSITION SUMMARY:
The Import Specialists will be responsible for approving booking requests via e-mail with our freight forwarder at origin. Working closely with the buying offices and freight forwarder, the position will responsible for approving and managing the bookings to ensure the purchase orders are shipped and received at our distribution centers in a timely manner based on the criteria of the purchase order. This will be accomplished by running reports/queries within Beall’s and the freight forwarders systems to compare information such as ship windows, testing approvals, release months, ad dates. Other queries will assist to ensure consolidation of freight with maximum utilization of loading per container to minimize freight costs.
The Import Specialists will have interaction and partnership with but not limited to: Freight Forwarder (origin and US), Customs Brokers, Vendors, Ocean Carriers, Domestic Dray Carriers, Beall’s Buyers, Beall’s Import Accounting, Beall’s Security, Beall’s Transportation Receiving and Beall’s DC Associates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Interact closely with Import Transportation Management/Associates, Freight Forwarders, Beall’s /Beall’s Outlet buyers in the booking approval process for shipping of international freight.
· Querying of information via Beall’s AS400 and Freight Forwarders system to ensure purchase orders are shipped within the PO requirements such as testing approval, shipping windows, release months and ad dates to ensure timely delivery to our DC.
· Having a full understanding of consolidation /loading utilization to meet cbm requirements and minimize freight costs.
· Responsible for accurate data entry and data maintenance in AS400/Beall’s Access data base for reporting to manage all aspects of international freight.
· Communication of information with the Import Transportation Lead/ Import Manager, buying office, freight forwarder, ocean carriers, customs broker, dray carriers, Beall’s security, Beall’s receiving, Beall’s DC associates until the empty container is returned to port.
· Scheduling of drop/swap deliveries to multiple Beall’s DC’s from multiple US ports.
· Interact with Beall’s Import Accounting on the receipt, rate validation and processing of invoices from ocean carriers, customs broker and dray carriers for payment.
· Maintaining receipt of required C-TPAT documents from Beall’s Receiving/Beall’s warehouse.
· Prioritizing of daily tasks to accomplish Import Transportation Department’s objectives.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
· A minimum of 3 years of experience in international transportation
· A basic comprehension of all aspects of importing of international freight
· Strong communication skills both oral and written
· Good listening skills
· Good problem solving skills
· Ability to adapt to change
· Outlooks, Excel, Microsoft Word experience is required.
