JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Retail Manager, the ID Card Services Associate I will oversee and assist in all areas of the ID Card office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Greet new students, faculty, and staff
- Issue cards and replacements including special cards for groups and events
- Process meal plan requests and adjustments
- Process Beach Bucks deposits and refunds
- Use computerized software and online systems to look up information to provide customer assistance
- Perform sales support functions related to POS procedures
- Troubleshoot issues with card readers, devices, and terminals and escalate to department supervisor and/or IT staff accordingly
- Produce and distribute information reports on card usage to cardholders and administration
- General housekeeping, stocking, organizing, pricing, merchandising, and assistance with card stock inventory
- Assist with clerical duties, research, and special projects
- Answer telephone calls and emails, follow-up with appropriate personnel, as needed
- Safeguard any and all confidential information
- Other duties as assigned, reasonably within the scope of the job

Work Schedule
Work shifts will be assigned during regular University Bookstore operating hours, which are generally Monday through Thursday from 7:00am to 7:00pm; Friday 7:00am to 5:00pm, and Saturday 10:00am to 4:30pm. ID Card Services operations continue during the Summer and Winter sessions. Some campus closure dates and holidays are required. Shifts may vary to include mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Operational activity peaks at the beginning and end of academic semesters. The employee must be able to provide a minimum of 12 hours during academic semesters; however scheduled hours may vary.
Physical Demands
The job will require the employee to work in an office environment while working at a desk and viewing a computer screen for long periods of time. The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear and use office equipment within arm’s reach. Specific vision abilities are required, which may include close vision and ability to adjust focus. There will be time spent intermittently on their feet and moving around in a large building. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must comply with the University’s rules and regulations as well as the Beach Shops.
Work Environment
The employee is typically in a climate-controlled indoor environment within the bookstore and occasionally has movement throughout the warehouse and outdoors, with exposure to weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate. Occasionally the work environment will have high customer traffic during rush, during sales and during the beginning of each new semester.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or experience
The employee must be a current and active CSULB student enrolled in a minimum of 6 units. Previous customer service experience is preferred but not required.

This position does not require any certificates, licenses or registrations.
Knowledge and Abilities
The employee must have basic knowledge to operate a copier and digital camera equipment. They must demonstrate proficiency in both written and verbal communication in English. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with a commitment to providing excellent customer service. They must be capable of developing and maintaining effective working relationships at all times and demonstrate cooperative behavior with a diverse population of staff, students, and co-workers. The ability to understand and comply with University and Beach Shops policies and procedures is required.
BACKGROUND CHECK A background check (including criminal records) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the Beach Shops at the CSU.
