Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Associate to join our Tax Department. This position involves preparation of tax returns, leading tax compliance, research, and advisory services for clients across various industries. The candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring regulatory compliance, mentoring junior associates, and providing strategic tax planning solutions.
Job Description:
• Lead and oversee the preparation and
first-level review of complex Form 1040 returns for High-Net-Worth
Individuals (HNI), including multi-state and cross-border scenarios.
• Handle advanced international reporting
including Forms 8621, 5471, and 8865, with strong focus on PFIC
identification and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with US federal, state, and
international tax regulations, particularly for individuals with foreign
investments and income.
• Conduct in-depth tax research and provide advisory
support on complex individual and cross-border tax matters.
• Develop and support tax planning strategies for HNI clients to optimize tax positions.
• Stay updated with evolving US international
tax regulations and provide guidance to clients and internal teams.
• Supervise and mentor junior associates,
including training on Form 1040, foreign reporting, and PFIC concepts.
• Assist in process improvements to enhance
efficiency and quality in individual tax engagements.
Requirements
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting,
Finance, or a related field.
• CPA, EA, or equivalent certification (preferred
but not required).
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and
local tax laws.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and
communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and
collaboratively within a team.
• Leadership and mentoring experience with junior
team members.
Experience:
• Prepare and review Form 1040 returns for High-Net-Worth
Individuals (HNI) with complex financial profiles.
• Handle advanced reporting including Forms
8621, 5471, and 8865.
• Identify and analyze PFICs (Passive Foreign
Investment Companies) and ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
• Review and interpret K-1s, foreign income,
investments, and multi-source income streams. Established ability to manage
multiple client engagements and complex tax matters.
• Manage multiple engagements, meet deadlines, and
coordinate with onshore teams/clients.
Software Proficiency:
• Proficiency in tax software such as CCH,
ProSystem, Sure prep or similar platforms.
• Strong working knowledge of Excel, QuickBooks,
and other accounting tools.
• Familiarity with tax research databases like CCH
answer connect, IRS treaty, etc.
