About the role

BBVA London is looking for a highly organized and detail-driven HR Generalist to take full ownership of the onboarding process while also providing critical support to Senior HR Business Partners in managing HRIS updates, offboarding, and employee lifecycle processes. This dual-function role will ensure a seamless new hire experience from offer signing to Day 1 while also being responsible for Workday updates, visa processing, HR documentation, and general HR administration. The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills, experience with HR systems (Workday preferred), and the ability to manage multiple HR processes efficiently. Key Responsibilities: Primary Focus: Onboarding Process Ownership 1. End-to-End Onboarding Coordination Primary contact for new hires after Talent Acquisition (TA) secures a signed offer letter. Manage the full onboarding lifecycle, ensuring all requirements are met before Day 1. Oversee background screening and certification requirements are completed by TA. Handle visa applications, right-to-work documentation, and follow-ups to ensure compliance. Ensure completion of all joiner documentation (contracts, new joiner forms, confidentiality agreements, benefits enrollment). Create and maintain new hire profiles in Workday, ensuring data accuracy. Coordinate IT, facilities, payroll, and business units to ensure all system access, badges, laptops, and desks are ready for Day 1. Maintain an onboarding checklist, tracking all new hires and escalating any delays - create a shared drive for new joiners and key stakeholders. 2. Day 1 Experience & New Hire Support Welcome new employees on their first day, ensuring a smooth onboarding experience and availability on Day 1 of a colleague to welcome them to their area. Assist with HR induction sessions, covering company culture, policies, and benefits. Verify all Workday access, equipment, and system logins are functional. Address any first-day concerns, acting as a key HR contact during the transition period. Secondary Focus: 1. HRIS & Employee Lifecycle Management (Workday) Process Owner for Workday changes, ensuring accurate updates for existing employees (job changes, promotions, contract amendments, etc.). Liaise with the CIB structures team to coordinate necessary job/compensation changes. Own and manage the offboarding process, including final payroll coordination, system deactivation, exit documentation Conduct Workday data audits, ensuring integrity in HR records. Generate HR reports and analytics for HR Business Partners and leadership. 2. Visa Applications & Compliance Management Process Owner for all visa applications, queries, and renewals, ensuring compliance with UK employment regulations. Work with immigration services provider to track visa sponsorships and ensure timely renewals. Project to split immigration services between Global Supplier for internal moves and local for external hires. Manage the right-to-work verification process for all new hires and existing employees. 3. Coordinator with HR Disciplines Local coordination with Communication, Marketing, Learning & Culture Disciplines 4. HR Support for Interns & Temporary Staff First point of contact for interns and temporary employees, handling HR queries. Ensure all documentation and contracts are properly completed and stored. Support internship and temporary hiring programs, working with Talent Acquisition. 5. General HR Administration & Documentation Manage the HR Inbox Manage holiday request follow up and administration and controls Help to maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks. Assist in drafting HR communications, including policy updates and internal announcements. Ensure HR records are compliant with GDPR and employment law. Support the annual HR audit process, ensuring accurate documentation. 6. Support to HR Business Partners & General HR Operations Provide day-to-day administrative support to Senior HR Business Partners. Assist with HR projects, including employee engagement initiatives, benefits administration, and process improvements. Handle general HR queries, escalating where necessary. Support HR employee relations cases, performance management, and disciplinary documentation.
