At the heart of this structure, the BBC Money, Work and Technology team provides material for BBC News platforms/programmes in the UK and internationally - text pieces & stills, digital pieces, tv pieces and radio/audio material. This content is of the highest possible editorial and technical standard, which in turn provides the best value for money for BBC audiences around the world. We strive to ensure that, in the face of increasing competition, BBC News is the world leader in news and is at the forefront of both editorial coverage and technological innovation in broadcasting and digital services.

The Money, Work and Technology team reports on stories of regional and global importance, providing insightful analysis, original stories and explanatory journalism for audiences in the UK and around the world.

The India bureau leads the BBC’s business coverage across all of South Asia. We report on business, economics and technology for all of the BBC’s platforms - digital, television and radio. Our reporting is accurate, impartial and clearly explains complex topics to a wide audience.

We are looking for an experienced, resourceful and creative Senior Journalist – Producer who is passionate about telling business stories. You will have excellent knowledge of international economics and of the major trends and currents shaping the global economy, with particular focus on India and South Asia. You will also demonstrate a strong grasp of business and technology issues facing this region, along with an understanding of how geopolitics and policy affect them.

You will have strong digital, radio and tv production skills and be able to work alongside the India Business Correspondents on the scripting, structuring and editing process.

You will be expected to pitch, develop and execute original story ideas, suggest creative treatments that can bring business and economic topics to life and be willing to experiment.

You will be experienced gathering in the field and dealing with challenging situations that may arise. As part of a small team, you will be expected to work collaboratively within the M&W team as well as with the wider bureau and department.

Are you the right candidate?

We work in a high-pressured environment, and you should be able to demonstrate an ability to work within that environment and to tight deadlines. The ideal candidate will be able to work as part of a team and show experience of de-escalating tense situations.
