Hours: As this is an International role working across different time zones we are open to discussing different hours outside of the normal 9-5

We are excited to announce the creation of a new team within People Services to deliver fundamental HR services to our BBC News teams based outside of the UK. Based in the UK and reporting to the Senior HR Business Partner, this role is a dynamic, generalist HR position that blends expertise, creativity and business acumen to provide effective solutions.

The primary function of the role is to provide professional advice and support on all matters included in the employee lifecycle, for example handling policy and pay related queries for staff and supporting team leaders manage performance and conduct matters. The role will work closely with Associate HRBPs and HRBP’s who are based in Region to deliver a coordinated service to approximately 1,500 employees in 60 countries.

Main Responsibilities

The Senior HR Advisers will support the smooth running of the International Advisory team within the centralised People Services function. You will support colleagues and Leaders in Region in addition to providing support to the Associate HR Business Partners based in Region on more complex cases.

Providing Day To Day HR Advisory Support Outside Of The UK On An Allocated Case Load, Which Will Include But Is Not Limited To

  • Providing first line query resolution service to employees, following processes, in line with defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Supporting team leaders with performance management, absence management, misconduct and grievance, escalating where appropriate.
  • To problem solve queries and issues, offering resolution and/or escalating queries to the relevant team/ 3rd party within People Services or relevant Specialist Team
  • To understand and gain insight into colleague concerns and problems by questioning, exploring issues and reviewing data.
  • Able to use People systems, entering data into relevant systems and ensuring data quality.
  • Managing escalations as allocated from People Services and wider HR business teams, ensuring appropriate follow up and management of stakeholders.
  • Support connection and collaboration with the HR Advisory team, with a focus on developing our knowledge base, proactively building awareness across People Services of our International Teams and building capability
  • Ensuring compliance with appropriate Data Protection legislation at all times.
  • To contribute to a culture of service excellence and support continuous improvement.

Are you the right candidate?

  • HR qualification desirable but not essential
  • Previous experience of working in a professional HR services environment is desirable
  • Be able to demonstrate experience of managing a large caseload including complex cases up to and including dismissal across a full range of ER matters.
  • Previous experience using a suite of business tools such as Microsoft, Outlook, SAP or equivalent payroll systems.
  • A confident delivery of verbal and written communications with excellent attention to detail.
  • Understands how to handle, resolve and escalate enquiries; passes on information promptly.
  • An ability to develop effective relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence through personal credibility.
  • Adaptable to change and ways of working.
