Join Havells CRI – Build the Future of Battery Energy Storage & Renewable Energy
Havells Centre for Research & Innovation (CRI), Noida is looking for an experienced Battery Validation Expert / Lead to join our growing Renewable Energy team. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on developing robust, safe, and reliable battery platforms for next-generation Energy Storage Systems (BESS), solar energy solutions, and smart energy products.
As a key member of our engineering organization, this role will drive end-to-end validation of battery systems covering cells, modules, packs, and complete energy storage systems while establishing world-class validation capabilities and test infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
- Define and own battery validation strategy across multiple product programs and technology platforms.
- Develop comprehensive DVP/DV-PV plans, validation methodologies, and test protocols aligned with product requirements and global standards.
- Lead validation activities for battery cells, modules, packs, and complete Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Conduct electrical performance validation including charge/discharge behavior, efficiency mapping, and performance characterization.
- Drive thermal validation programs covering heat generation, thermal behavior, cycling performance, and thermal runaway assessments.
- Execute safety and abuse testing including short-circuit, overcharge, and fault-condition evaluations.
- Lead cycle-life, durability, aging, and long-term reliability validation to ensure product robustness.
- Validate Battery Management Systems (BMS) including protection functions, cell balancing, SOC/SOH estimation accuracy, and fault management.
- Verify system integration with inverters, PCS, EMS, and communication protocols such as CAN and Modbus.
- Analyze large sets of validation data, identify performance gaps, conduct root cause analysis, and drive corrective actions.
- Support product certification readiness and collaborate with external testing laboratories and certification agencies.
- Establish and scale advanced battery testing laboratories, including ownership of CAPEX planning, test infrastructure deployment, calibration, and audit readiness.
- Mentor validation engineers and build strong in-house expertise, processes, and governance frameworks.
What We're Looking For
✔ 12–15 years of experience in Battery Validation, EV, BESS, Energy Storage, or Power Electronics.
✔ Strong expertise in Lithium-ion battery systems, battery pack architecture, thermal management, and BMS technologies.
✔ Hands-on experience with battery cyclers, high-voltage testing systems, environmental chambers, DAQ systems, and CAN tools.
✔ Proficiency in validation planning, reliability engineering, certification, compliance, and failure analysis.
✔ Exposure to MATLAB, Python, and data-driven validation approaches is highly desirable.
