About Us:
MEAtec is a fast-growing deep tech company developing AI-driven battery analytics and digital battery passport solutions, second-life decision-making tools, lifecycle management platforms, and edge-to-cloud BMS technologies for electric vehicles and energy storage systems. With a strong focus on sustainability and the circular economy, we collaborate with leading academics, industry partners, and international organizations to advance battery intelligence and next-generation mobility across Europe and beyond.
Position Overview:
As a Battery Modelling Intern, you will develop and validate electrochemical, equivalent circuit, and data-driven battery models for EV and energy storage applications. You will analyze performance data, calibrate models, and support their integration into BMS and digital twin systems, working closely with cross-functional teams. The role requires hands-on experience with battery modelling and tools like Python, MATLAB, and Simulink, along with strong analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement physics based battery models, including Single Particle Model (SPM) and Doyle-Fuller-Newman (DFN/P2D) models.
- Perform parameter optimization and parameter tuning to improve model accuracy and performance.
- Extend the physics based model for temperature and aging dependency by modeling phenomena like SEI growth and lithium plating.
- Support development of digital twin solutions for battery systems.
- Design, implement and optimize the state estimation algorithms such as Extended Kalman Filters (EKF) for SOC, SOH, and RUL prediction.
- Work with LFP chemistry and related datasets for modelling and validation.
- Utilize MATLAB/Simulink for modelling, simulation, and validation (preferred).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate models into BMS and simulation environments.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or related fields.
- Understanding of battery electrochemistry, thermal dynamics, and degradation mechanisms.
- Proficiency in Python; experience with MATLAB/Simulink is a plus.
- Experience with PyBaMM and any other battery simulation frameworks or multiphysics software.
- Familiarity/experience with data analysis techniques, statistical modelling and machine learning is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated interest in battery technologies, energy storage, or electric mobility solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (C1 level or higher).
What We Offer:
- Hands-on experience in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
- Opportunities to work on impactful projects that drive innovation.
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- Flexible working hours and a supportive team culture.
- Professional development and mentorship opportunities.
