A product manager's responsibilities include: Product strategy: Translate business strategy into a product strategy and roadmap Product lifecycle: Manage the product throughout its lifecycle, from conception to delivery Product development: Collaborate with engineering, production, and marketing teams to develop, test, and release products Product marketing: Develop product positioning and messaging, and analyze market data to create sales strategies Product profitability: Manage product profitability and commercial success, and set pricing to meet revenue goals Customer satisfaction: Act as a customer advocate, and work with sales and support to ensure customer satisfaction Communication: Communicate with all areas of the company, including stakeholders, press, and analysts Budgeting: Manage the budgets of multi-disciplinary teams, and propose an overall budget Competitor research: Conduct competitor research to learn about customer needs Project management: Create project timelines and implementation schedules, and coordinate with design and engineering teams Product managers should have a blend of business and technical skills, and be able to make decisions with imperfect information.
