Role Overview
Paves Technologies is hiring a seasoned Senior BASE24-eps Developer to design, build, and support mission-critical payment switching and authorization systems. This is a hands-on senior engineering role for someone who has lived inside the BASE24-eps stack, developing device handlers, wiring up card scheme interfaces, and delivering scheme mandates end to end.
The ideal candidate has deep, demonstrable experience developing and maintaining ATM and POS device handlers, and a strong track record delivering card scheme compliance mandates, BIN changes, authorization enhancements, EMV updates, and certification cycles across Visa, Mastercard, and other global and domestic schemes. You will own complex changes independently, mentor peers, and act as a technical point of contact for scheme partners and client stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, enhance, and maintain BASE24-eps applications for authorization, switching, routing, and settlement.
• Design, develop, and support ATM and POS device handlers, including operation codes, flow control, state/screen and receipt configuration
• Implement Visa, Mastercard, Amex, and other card scheme mandates, translating scheme bulletins into technical changes and ensuring compliance across all affected system components.
• Own the compliance lifecycle: BIN changes, authorization enhancements, EMV updates, mandate certification, and scheme migrations.
• Integrate, test, and support payment interfaces - ISO 8583, host interfaces, third-party processors, gateways, and fraud/monitoring systems.
• Troubleshoot authorization issues, transaction declines, routing faults, reversal handling, and system-level processing errors by tracing complex transaction paths.
• Support end-to-end delivery: SIT, interchange/scheme certification, mandate validation, UAT support, regression cycles, and production cutover activities.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams QA, infrastructure, production support, scheme partners, and client stakeholders.
• Prepare technical documentation, release notes, run books, and deployment procedures; provide go-live and post go-live support.
Required Skills and Experience:
• 6+ years of hands-on BASE24-eps experience, including AFT, OLF, ONL, TLF modules, device handlers, and related components.
• Mandatory: proven development and support experience with POS and ATM device handlers and terminal transaction flows.
• Mandatory: strong track record delivering card scheme compliance mandates and certifications (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, JCB, Discover, RuPay, CUPS, etc.).
• Solid command of payment message formats:
– ISO 8583
– Proprietary scheme formats
– Host Interface specifications
– APIs
• Proficiency in C / C++, with working knowledge across HP Non-stop, Linux, cloud infrastructure
• Strong understanding of authorization flows, EMV processing, issuer/acquirer concepts, interchange processing, and settlement/reconciliation.
• Excellent analytical and debugging skills; ability to work independently in distributed, remote teams and communicate effectively with scheme partners and clients.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Scheme certification experience e.g., Visa ADVT, Mastercard MTIP, Discover, Amex, and EMV L1/L2 terminal certification.
• Experience with mandate certification, scheme migrations, or large-scale mandate rollouts across multiple banks/processors.
• Knowledge of POS, ATM, eCommerce, and tokenization transaction flows, plus DCC, biometric, and value-added ATM services.
• Familiarity with domestic scheme and regulatory mandates (e.g., NPCI/RuPay, RBI mandates such as 'Not on Us' handling).
• Exposure to observability and CI/CD tooling (Grafana, Kibana/OpenSearch, Jenkins, Git) and Agile delivery.
