Job Overview
The K–12 Performing Arts Teacher is responsible for creating a vibrant, engaging, and Christ-centered performing arts program that spans elementary through high school. This includes instruction in music, singing, and theater, as well as leading performances that bring the BCA community together.
This role is about more than instruction; it is about discipleship through the arts. The teacher will cultivate student growth in skill, confidence, collaboration, and character, while helping students use their gifts to glorify God and serve others.
Responsibilities
- Teach performing arts across multiple grade levels (K–12)
- Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans that foster creativity and excellence
- Direct and produce school performances (e.g., Christmas program, spring musical, showcases, concerts, plays, etc.)
- Create a classroom environment that promotes joy, discipline, collaboration, and respect
- Encourage students to discover and develop their God-given talents in the arts
- Integrate faith and learning by pointing students to truth, beauty, and worship through performance
- Assess student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback to students and families
- Collaborate with faculty and administration to support student growth and school-wide initiatives
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, performances, and opportunities
- Participate in school events, chapel, staff meetings, and professional development
- Continue to grow professionally and stay current with best practices in performing arts education
Requirements
- A strong, personal Christian faith and a commitment to BCA’s mission and vision
- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Performing Arts, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Teaching experience in music, choir, theater, or performing arts (K–12 experience preferred)
- Ability to lead and direct performances, productions, and student ensembles
- Strong understanding of performing arts curriculum and instructional best practices
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- A passion for discipling students and developing both their talent and character
- Ability to create a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple performances and responsibilities
- Flexibility and creativity in building upon a thriving performing arts program
- Comfort integrating technology into instruction and performance preparation
