Job Overview
The Middle School Science Teacher is responsible for creating a dynamic and Christ-centered learning environment where students are challenged to think deeply and engage actively with scientific concepts.
This role goes beyond delivering content; it is about cultivating a love for learning, reinforcing a biblical worldview, and equipping students with the skills they need to succeed in high school and beyond. The teacher will design engaging lessons, facilitate hands-on learning experiences, and guide students in developing both scientific understanding and strong character.
Classes meet on M/W/F
Responsibilities
- Teach middle school science courses (grades 6–8), incorporating life, physical, chemistry, and/or earth science concepts
- Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans that promote inquiry and critical thinking
- Facilitate hands-on labs, experiments, and interactive learning experiences
- Hold an annual science fair
- Create a classroom environment that fosters curiosity, discipline, and respect
- Integrate faith and learning by highlighting God’s design, order, and creativity in the natural world
- Assess student progress regularly and provide clear, constructive feedback to students and families
- Prepare students for higher-level science (high school) coursework through strong foundational instruction
- Collaborate with colleagues to support student success and school-wide initiatives
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, classroom activities, and academic expectations
- Participate in school events, chapel, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities
- Stay current with best practices in science education and instructional strategies
Requirements
- A strong, personal Christian faith and commitment to BCA’s mission and vision
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Teaching experience in middle school science (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of science content and middle school instructional best practices
- Ability to design and lead hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills
- A passion for working with middle school students and guiding both their academic and personal growth
- Ability to create a structured, engaging, and positive classroom environment
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Comfort integrating technology into instruction and assessment
