Role Description The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving a range of hot and cold coffee beverages, teas, and café drinks according to established recipes and standards. Day-to-day tasks include taking customer orders, operating brewing and espresso equipment, handling the cash register, and ensuring accurate billing. The role also involves maintaining cleanliness of the coffee station and seating area, restocking ingredients and supplies, and assisting with basic food preparation such as heating or plating bakery items. The Barista provides friendly, timely service, answers customer questions about menu items, and supports other team members during busy periods. This is a full-time, on-site role based at Oberai Bakers & Cafe in Bhubaneswar.
Qualifications
- Strong customer service skills, including clear communication, a polite manner, and the ability to handle customer queries and feedback.
- Basic food and beverage preparation skills, with the ability to learn coffee brewing techniques, espresso-based drinks, and safe handling of equipment.
- Attention to detail and hygiene, including following cleanliness standards, food safety practices, and proper presentation of beverages and baked goods.
- Cash handling and basic numeracy skills, with the ability to operate a POS system, manage bills, and process payments accurately.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, work in a fast-paced environment, and coordinate with team members during peak hours.
- Prior experience in a café, bakery, or food service environment is preferred but not mandatory; training can be provided for motivated candidates.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by café operations.
