Shift: Friday - Sunday 8:00a - 8:30p

PRIMARY FUNCTION     

The Maintenance Team Leader provides direct leadership to Maintenance Technicians in maintaining and/or repairing machinery and equipment according to proper standards as scheduled and directed by the Maintenance Supervisor. They organize and deploy team members within their area to accomplish all aspects of maintenance and perform all maintenance functions when the need arises.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Education

Required: High School or GED

Preferred: Vocational School Graduate and/or equivalent related experience in refrigeration, electronics, electricity, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, machining, and plumbing.

 

Experience

Required: A minimum of three years of experience working as a Maintenance Technician or in a related field

Preferred: At least one year of leadership in directing employees

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Ability to work with other team leaders, supervisors, and members of management in a harmonious and cooperative manner and contribute positively to the overall decision-making process.
  • Ability to lead a group of employees by engaging, motivating, directing staff, and solving work-related problems.
  • Extensive knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, SOPs, and SSOPs, as demonstrated by successfully applying principles while keeping safety at the forefront.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of the company, both written and verbal.
  • An understanding, tact, and willingness to see other points of view and to compromise when needed. Included would be self-awareness, self-motivation, emotional self-management, empathy, and interpersonal competency.
  • Ability to think proactively and manage multiple responsibilities under tight deadlines.
  • Mechanically inclined and has a working knowledge of machines and equipment, including critical operation systems and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Proactive and self-starting with successful project accomplishments.

Working Conditions

Flexibility to work in different environments, from hot to wet and damp conditions in the plant to winter weather conditions, while performing duties outdoors.

 

Physical Requirements

Capable of performing numerous duties where the flexibility of different body positions is needed.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

 The Maintenance Team Leader reports to and is accountable to the Maintenance Supervisor.

  Maintenance Technicians

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for direct leadership and training of maintenance technicians engaged in the repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools and equipment and in fabricating parts of equipment and machines.
  • The Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for implementing a work schedule created by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Analyzes and maintains maintenance standard operating procedures.
  • Directs technicians in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
  • Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment based on observation of machinery and applying knowledge from past experience.
  • Coordinates the repair and preventative maintenance of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure production operations are ready on time.
  • Reviews preventive task completion and assists in recommendations to improve the PM program with the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Assures policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Completes 1-2-1s with team members and ensures all training is completed on time.
  • Reports all accidents, incidents, and concerns to the supervisor or safety manager immediately.
  • Attend to injured team members immediately, obtain medical assistance if necessary, complete proper safety paperwork, and act to eliminate reoccurrences.
  • Embrace change and motivate team members to support change.
  • Increase personal knowledge and information through educational opportunities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE

  • Learns all aspects of the Maintenance Department. Direct leadership of the Maintenance Department results in all activities being accomplished safely and efficiently following the Maintenance Supervisor's directives.
  • Leads and directs the Maintenance Technicians to provide a customer service attitude towards support departments as their primary customers.
  • Motivates and mentors team members to meet and exceed challenges and develop personal and professional goals. Motivates team members to act on their own and to take on responsibilities delegated to them.
  • Keeps management information in strict confidence and communicates information to the Maintenance Supervisor, top managers, other leaders, and team members as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and overcomes frequent disruptions and challenges to keep maintenance on schedule, and motivates others to keep current on preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Completes required paperwork in a timely fashion.
