🚀 About the Role
PhysicsWallah (PW) is looking for a highly skilled Backend SDE-3 (Node.js) to build and scale robust, high-performance backend systems powering our learning platforms used by millions of users across India. This role requires strong ownership, deep backend expertise, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-scale B2C environment.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js.
- Own end-to-end feature development from requirement gathering to production deployment.
- Build and optimize high-performance, low-latency systems for large-scale applications.
- Collaborate with Frontend, Product, and DevOps teams to deliver seamless user experiences.
- Implement best practices in system design, code quality, and performance optimization.
- Work with databases, caching systems, and message queues to ensure efficient data handling.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and security of backend systems.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decision-making and architecture discussions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring system stability.
🧩 Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience
- 5–10 years of hands-on experience in backend development.
- Proven experience building and scaling high-traffic B2C applications.
- Experience in product-based or high-growth environments preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
- Hands-on experience with databases (MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Experience with caching systems like Redis.
- Familiarity with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
- Strong understanding of system design, scalability, and performance optimization.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and cloud platform (AWS).
- Knowledge of authentication, authorization, and application security best practices.
