About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Java Developer / Java Architect to join our dynamic team in Bangalore or remotely. This role is pivotal in designing and leading the development of a modern payments platform within the Interchange domain. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building scalable, fault-tolerant payment systems from inception to deployment. You will be responsible for defining the architecture, making key technical decisions, and guiding the engineering team to deliver robust solutions that meet business and technical requirements. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge payment technologies, influence system design, and contribute to transforming the future of digital payments.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 8 years of experience in software development, with a strong background in backend Java development and enterprise architecture. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have extensive experience in designing distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud deployment strategies, particularly within Microsoft Azure. Proficiency in databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB is essential. Familiarity with payment processing workflows, including clearing, settlement, and reconciliation, is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, leadership qualities, and the ability to mentor engineering teams effectively.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end architecture for core payment capabilities including clearing, settlement, and reconciliation processes.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and resilient microservices utilizing API-first and event-driven architecture principles.
- Define and implement non-functional requirements (NFRs) such as system performance, scalability, availability, security, and observability.
- Lead technology decision-making processes, evaluate architectural trade-offs, and document best practices.
- Architect and support data storage solutions using PostgreSQL and MongoDB, ensuring data integrity and performance.
- Collaborate with cloud engineering teams to support Azure cloud architecture, deployment, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Mentor and review work of engineering teams, ensuring adherence to architectural standards and best practices.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve platform architecture and capabilities.
