About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team working on large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. The primary objective of this role is to contribute to building verifiable software engineering tasks based on public repository histories, incorporating synthetic approaches with human-in-the-loop methodologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analyzing and working with high-quality open-source repositories, particularly from GitHub, and will play a key role in automating development environments, triaging issues, and assessing test coverage and quality. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence the future of AI-assisted software development by ensuring the robustness and efficacy of datasets used for training LLMs.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, demonstrating proficiency in at least one major programming language such as Java. They should have a solid understanding of version control systems like Git, containerization tools such as Docker, and experience with setting up and maintaining software pipelines. Familiarity with navigating complex codebases, running, modifying, and testing real-world projects locally is essential. Experience contributing to or evaluating open-source projects is considered a plus, as it aligns with the collaborative nature of this role. Candidates should also possess excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage GitHub issues across trending open-source libraries to identify challenges for LLM evaluation.
- Set up, configure, and Dockerize code repositories to facilitate testing and evaluation processes.
- Assess unit test coverage and quality to ensure datasets are comprehensive and reliable.
- Modify and run codebases locally to evaluate LLM performance in bug-fixing and code understanding scenarios.
- Collaborate closely with researchers to design and select repositories and issues that present meaningful challenges for LLMs.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring project milestones are met.
