Role Description The Backend Engineer will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services that power Apt’s algorithmic trading platforms. This full-time, on-site role is based in Mumbai and involves collaborating closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and QA teams to deliver high-performance, secure, and compliant trading infrastructure. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing APIs, optimizing database interactions, integrating with market data and exchange systems, and ensuring robust monitoring, logging, and error handling. The Backend Engineer will also participate in code reviews, contribute to architecture decisions, and help improve development workflows and deployment processes.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language (such as Java, C++, C#, Python, or Go) and experience building production-grade services.
- Knowledge of database technologies (SQL and/or NoSQL) and skills in schema design, query optimization, and data modeling.
- Understanding of API design and integration, including RESTful services, authentication, and security best practices.
- Familiarity with distributed systems concepts, performance optimization, and debugging in high-throughput environments.
- Experience working with version control systems (such as Git) and modern development practices, including testing and CI/CD.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team, communicate technical concepts clearly, and document solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Exposure to financial markets, trading systems, or fintech platforms is an advantage, as is experience with low-latency or real-time systems.
