About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team at SiteRecon. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing and scaling the core infrastructure that powers our GIS platform tailored specifically for the landscaping industry. Your expertise will directly influence how hundreds of landscaping companies measure properties, conduct site assessments, and generate accurate estimates. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, frontend developers, and cartography specialists to deliver innovative features and ensure the reliability and scalability of our platform. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment where your technical skills will have a tangible impact on the industry.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in backend development with experience in building scalable APIs and services. You should have a solid understanding of GIS technologies, data pipelines, and cloud-based architectures. Proven experience working in a startup environment or fast-paced setting is highly desirable. A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Additionally, familiarity with Python, Java, Postgres/PostGIS, and cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is essential. Experience with modern tools like Supabase, Firebase, and third-party API integrations will be considered a plus. Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to convert product requirements into technical specifications, and excellent collaboration skills are vital for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain robust APIs and services that power our web and mobile applications, enabling real-time property mapping, measurement calculations, and site assessment workflows.
- Develop seamless integrations with industry-leading CRMs and platforms to automate data export and synchronization, enhancing user experience and operational efficiency.
- Design and optimize complex data pipelines to handle large-scale GIS data efficiently and accurately.
- Architect and implement systems utilizing event-driven architectures to provide real-time updates and notifications to clients and third-party services.
- Develop and deploy AI and machine learning-powered features to enhance platform capabilities and automate processes.
- Support mobile application development by creating backend services for iOS and Android platforms, including file uploads, offline synchronization, and real-time data updates.
- Ensure system reliability through proactive error handling, comprehensive monitoring, and maintaining high-performance APIs capable of managing extensive property data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into scalable technical solutions that address real customer needs.
