About The Role
We are currently seeking a VoIP Software Engineer to join our team remotely. In this role, you will be deployed to work directly with an international client engaged in developing modern, scalable communication platforms and digital applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong backend programming skills in Node.js and/or Python, coupled with practical experience in VoIP technologies such as Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP), and experience working with VoIP platforms like Asterisk, Kamailio, or FreeSWITCH. This position requires a developer mindset focused on backend service development, platform integration, and troubleshooting complex communication systems. You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining robust VoIP infrastructure that supports high-quality, reliable communication services for a global customer base.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 to 10 years of total professional experience, with at least 3 or more years dedicated to backend development. Essential qualifications include a strong background in Node.js and/or Python, with hands-on experience in building RESTful APIs and working within Linux-based environments. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency with VoIP protocols such as SIP and RTP, and familiarity with VoIP platforms like Asterisk, Kamailio, or FreeSWITCH. Experience working with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, version control systems like Git, and cloud services such as AWS is highly desirable. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, coupled with the ability to collaborate effectively within distributed teams, are crucial for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Node.js and/or Python, ensuring high performance and scalability.
- Build and optimize RESTful APIs to facilitate seamless integration with various communication platforms.
- Work extensively with VoIP platforms such as Asterisk, Kamailio, or FreeSWITCH to develop communication solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve SIP, RTP, WebRTC, and related signaling or media issues to ensure reliable voice and video communication.
- Integrate third-party APIs and services to enhance platform capabilities.
- Operate within Linux-based environments, managing server configurations and deployments.
- Optimize system performance and scalability to handle increasing user demands.
- Manage and maintain databases like MySQL and PostgreSQL, ensuring data integrity and security.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Git workflows, participate in code reviews, and contribute to continuous integration and deployment processes.
- Provide ongoing debugging, maintenance, and production support to ensure system stability and performance.
