About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Freelance/Contract Backend Developer to support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of enterprise-grade software applications. This role focuses on building scalable backend systems, optimizing application performance, developing APIs and services, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. The ideal candidate is passionate about modern software engineering practices and leveraging the newest AI technologies, tools, and development workflows to improve development speed, code quality, automation, and overall product innovation.
This is a hands-on engineering role suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, works independently, and collaborates effectively with QA, DevOps, front-end engineers, and product stakeholders. Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional backend software development experience
- Strong expertise in C#, .NET Framework, and .NET Core
- Deep understanding of backend architecture and distributed systems
- Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and backend services
- Proficiency with modern AI-assisted software development tools and workflows
- Solid experience with SQL and relational databases such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL
- Hands-on experience working with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
- Proficiency with Docker and containerized deployment practices
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles and software engineering best practices
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments utilizing automation and AI-enhanced development practices
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
- Comfortable working independently in a freelance or contract capacity with minimal oversight
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using C# and .NET Core
- Build and enhance RESTful APIs, backend services, and business logic layers to support enterprise applications
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering workflows to improve productivity, code quality, testing, and documentation
- Develop and optimize database schemas, queries, and ORM implementations for performance and scalability
- Enhance application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability through continuous improvement
- Collaborate with front-end developers to support seamless application integrations
- Work closely with QA teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage, regression stability, and overall application quality
- Leverage AI tools for debugging, code reviews, testing automation, and accelerating development cycles
- Assist with CI/CD pipeline integration, deployment strategies, and best practices
- Participate in architecture discussions, technical planning, and design reviews
- Document technical solutions, architectural decisions, and development standards using AI-enhanced workflows where appropriate
- Identify potential technical risks and propose effective mitigation strategies
- Support cloud-native and containerized application environments using Docker and related technologies
- Contribute to security, authentication, and authorization implementations such as OAuth and JWT
- Stay current with emerging AI technologies, software engineering trends, and backend development best practices
