About The Role
We are seeking a talented Backend Developer to join our team on a contract basis, working remotely from India. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and building scalable APIs, integrating large language models (LLMs) and machine learning (ML) models into our production workflows, and managing our data layer. This position offers high autonomy, allowing you to work closely with the frontend engineering team and report directly to the founding team. Your contributions will be pivotal in advancing NurseBee’s platform, ensuring seamless data flow, security, and performance across our systems.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in backend development, with proficiency in multiple programming languages and a solid understanding of AI/ML integration. Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience building production APIs with Node.js and TypeScript, along with 2 years of hands-on Python experience. Familiarity with PostgreSQL, RESTful API design, and cloud services such as AWS is essential. Experience working with AI/ML APIs, vector databases, and deploying models as microservices will be highly advantageous. Additionally, candidates should have experience handling sensitive data, such as PII or healthcare information, and demonstrate excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Responsibilities
As a Backend Developer at NurseBee, your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and secure APIs to support our healthcare staffing platform.
- Integrating third-party AI/ML APIs, such as OpenAI or Anthropic, and implementing embedding and vector search functionalities.
- Managing the data layer, including schema design, query optimization, and transaction management within PostgreSQL.
- Collaborating with frontend engineers to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
- Implementing authentication and security protocols, including JWT, bcrypt, RBAC, and HTTPS/TLS.
- Deploying and monitoring ML models and APIs, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Working with cloud infrastructure on AWS, including EC2, RDS, S3, and networking configurations.
- Integrating external APIs with robust error handling and retry mechanisms.
- Participating in code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement of development processes.
