About The Role
Sikich India is seeking a skilled Back-End Web Developer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing the server-side architecture that powers our clients’ websites and applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions, supporting both traditional monolithic WordPress environments and modern headless architectures.
This position requires a candidate with expertise in Next.js, headless architecture, and API integrations. You will work closely with UX designers, front-end developers, and strategists to deliver reliable, maintainable, and innovative back-end solutions that align with client goals and industry best practices. Your work will directly impact the functionality, security, and performance of digital platforms, ensuring seamless user experiences and robust content management systems.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in back-end or full-stack web development.
- Proficiency in Next.js and experience supporting or building headless CMS architectures, including platforms like Sanity.io, Sitefinity, or similar.
- Strong understanding of modern JavaScript frameworks and their consumption of back-end APIs.
- Hands-on experience with API development, including REST and GraphQL, and integrating third-party services such as CRMs, marketing platforms, and analytics tools.
- Proficiency in PHP and MySQL, with the ability to support WordPress sites, including custom themes, plugins, and REST APIs.
- Solid understanding of web performance optimization, security best practices, and scalable architecture design.
- Experience working in collaborative agency environments or multi-client settings is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Develop and support headless architecture solutions, building back-end systems that facilitate Next.js-based front ends consuming data via APIs.
- Create, maintain, and optimize REST and GraphQL APIs for seamless data exchange and third-party integrations.
- Support and extend WordPress-based websites through custom themes, plugins, APIs, and integrations.
- Design and optimize database structures, queries, and data flows to ensure system reliability and scalability.
- Implement best practices for application performance, including caching, authentication, and data validation, while maintaining high security standards.
- Collaborate closely with UX designers, front-end developers, and strategy teams to ensure back-end solutions align with user experience, SEO, accessibility, and business objectives.
- Debug issues, support existing client sites, and continuously improve code quality, system stability, and security measures.
