Role Description
The Motor Insurance Back Office Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end processing of motor insurance documents, including policy issuance, renewals, endorsements, and claims documentation. You will ensure that all data entered into the system aligns with the underwriting guidelines and regional insurance regulations.
Qualifications:
- Policy Administration: Process new motor insurance applications, renewals, and cancellations. Ensure all vehicle details (Make, Model, IDV, Engine/Chassis numbers) are accurately captured.
- Endorsement Management: Handle mid-term adjustments (MTAs) such as change of vehicle, transfer of ownership, or addition of accessories, ensuring premium adjustments are calculated correctly.
- Claims Documentation: Assist the claims department by verifying policy coverage, checking for No Claim Bonus (NCB) validity, and organizing surveyor reports and KYC documents.
- NCB Validation: Coordinate with other insurance providers to verify No Claim Bonus declarations and manage recovery processes if discrepancies are found.
- Compliance & KYC: Perform rigorous Know Your Customer (KYC) checks and ensure all documentation meets the standards set by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDAI) or relevant local bodies.
- Reconciliation: Assist the finance team in reconciling premium payments received via various channels (Online, Cheque, POS) against issued policies.
- Database Management: Maintain an organized digital archive of motor inspection reports and previous insurance copies.
Technical Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in insurance back-office operations (specifically Motor/General Insurance).
- Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of Own Damage (OD), Third Party (TP), and Comprehensive coverages, along with common add-ons (Zero Dep, Engine Protect, etc.).
- Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Lookups and Pivot Tables) and experience using insurance core platforms (e.g., Guidewire, SAP for Insurance, or proprietary portals).
- Detail Oriented: Ability to spot errors in complex documents like Registration Certificates (RC) or previous policy schedules.
