Role Description This is a part-time, on-site Back End Developer role based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Back End Developer will design, implement, and maintain server-side applications and APIs that power the Zion platform. Responsibilities include building secure and scalable services, integrating with internal and external systems, optimizing database queries and data models, and ensuring high performance and reliability. The role involves collaborating closely with front-end developers, product managers, and UX designers to translate functional requirements into technical solutions. The developer will also participate in code reviews, write automated tests, document technical designs, and contribute to continuous improvement of the platform’s architecture and development practices.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Back-End Web Development and Software Development, with experience building and maintaining production-ready services or APIs.
- Proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and general Programming concepts, including clean code principles, testing, and debugging.
- Familiarity with Front-End Development fundamentals to effectively integrate and collaborate on end-to-end features.
- Experience with relational or NoSQL databases, API design (REST/GraphQL), and version control systems such as Git.
- Knowledge of security best practices, performance optimization, and scalable system design for web platforms.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, communicate clearly, and manage time effectively in a part-time on-site setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience; prior experience in edtech or platform-based products is an advantage.
