🎯 About the Role
As a Backend Platform Engineer, you will design and build **high-reliability backend systems** that power a distributed, multi-service platform.
You will work on:
* Microservices architecture
* API systems (FastAPI-based)
* Data processing pipelines
* Event-driven systems
* Internal platform services (bridge layer, replay systems)
This role requires strong fundamentals in **systems design, correctness, and scalability**, not just CRUD API development.
🧩 Responsibilities
Core Platform Development
* Design and implement **scalable microservices**
* Build and maintain **high-performance APIs using FastAPI**
* Develop internal platform services for data flow, orchestration, and system integration
System Architecture & Integration
* Work on **event-driven architecture** (message queues, async workflows)
* Build services that integrate across:
* data pipelines
* graph/data stores
* processing layers
Data & Execution Layer
* Implement **deterministic processing workflows**
* Build systems for **data validation, transformation, and persistence**
* Ensure correctness and consistency across services
Advanced Platform Components
* Contribute to:
* Bridge services (API layer between systems)
* Replay systems (ability to re-run workflows deterministically)
* Audit-friendly pipelines
Reliability & Performance
* Optimize services for:
* low latency
* high throughput
* Ensure strong observability (metrics, logs, tracing)
🛠️ Skill Set
Core Backend Skills
* Strong in **Python**
* Experience with **FastAPI** (or similar async frameworks)
* Solid understanding of **REST APIs + async programming**
Systems & Architecture
* Experience with **microservices architecture**
* Understanding of **event-driven systems** (Kafka / NATS / RabbitMQ or similar)
* Knowledge of distributed systems fundamentals
Data & Storage
* Experience with:
* NoSQL / Graph DBs / relational DBs
* Understanding of data modeling and consistency
DevOps & Infrastructure (Good to Have)
* Familiarity with:
* Docker
* Kubernetes
* CI/CD pipelines
Engineering Mindset
* Strong focus on:
* correctness
* system reliability
* clean architecture
* Ability to think in systems, not just endpoints
🎓 Qualifications
* 3–6+ years of backend engineering experience
* Experience building **production-grade backend systems**
* Prior work on **scalable or distributed systems** preferred
* Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
