Job Title: Azure Platform Engineer
Department: Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering
Reports to: Director / Head of Infrastructure & Operations
Position Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled Azure Platform Engineer with deep expertise in Azure networking and cloud security, including hands-on experience with virtual firewalls and application delivery controllers such as Palo Alto, Netscaler, and Web Application Firewalls (WAF). The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and operating secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud platforms with a strong focus on network architecture and security controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement enterprise-scale Azure architectures with a strong focus on networking and security
- Architect and manage Azure networking including VNets, subnets, NSGs, UDRs, Private Endpoints, Service Endpoints, Azure Firewall, Application Gateway (WAF), Load Balancers, VPN Gateway, and ExpressRoute
- Deploy and manage virtual network appliances such as Palo Alto firewalls, Netscaler (ADC), and third-party WAF solutions within Azure
- Design secure ingress and egress traffic flows, including DMZ architecture and zero-trust network models
- Implement and manage application delivery and load balancing using Netscaler / Azure Application Gateway
- Configure and manage WAF policies for application protection against OWASP threats
- Design hybrid connectivity between on-prem and cloud using VPN and ExpressRoute
- Build and manage Azure landing zones, subscriptions, and governance frameworks
- Deploy and manage IaaS workloads including Virtual Machines, storage, and backup solutions
- Design and implement PaaS services such as Azure App Services, Azure SQL, Functions, and AKS with secure networking
- Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
- Implement monitoring and observability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
- Ensure platform security using Azure AD, RBAC, Key Vault, Defender for Cloud, and policy enforcement
- Troubleshoot complex networking, firewall, and application access issues across environments
- Optimize performance, latency, and cost across network and application layers
Key Skills and Experience:
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (7+ years preferred)
- Mandatory deep expertise in Azure networking and hybrid connectivity
- Strong hands-on experience with virtual firewalls such as Palo Alto (VM-Series) and ADC solutions like Netscaler
- Experience implementing and managing Web Application Firewalls (WAF)
- Strong understanding of network security, segmentation, and zero-trust architecture
- Experience with IaaS and PaaS services across Azure
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (AKS) and container networking
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
- Good scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Bash)
- Experience with monitoring, alerting, and incident management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Azure certifications (AZ-700, AZ-104, AZ-305 preferred)
- Palo Alto (PCNSE) or Netscaler certifications are a plus
- Experience in multi-cloud environments (AWS/GCP) is a plus
- Experience in regulated environments (banking, insurance, etc.)
- Exposure to FinOps and cost optimization
