Job Description: Azure Migration Specialist
Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Azure Migration Specialist to plan, execute, and optimize cloud migration initiatives across enterprise environments. The role focuses on Azure storage services, NetApp CVO–based data migration, containerization, automation, scripting, and adoption of Microsoft’s Cloud Adoption Framework. The ideal candidate will work closely with architecture, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to deliver secure, scalable, and efficient cloud migration strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute migration of on‑premises workloads to Azure using Azure Migrate and related tools.
- Design and implement migration strategies leveraging Azure Storage (Blob, File, Disk).
- Perform data migration and replication using Azure NetApp Files and NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO).
- Conduct environment discovery, assessment, and dependency mapping to support migration planning.
- Apply Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) best practices across readiness, governance, and landing zone setup.
- Develop automation and CI/CD workflows using DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or GitLab.
- Containerize existing workloads using Docker/Podman and migrate to AKS or container-based platforms.
- Develop scripts (Bash, PowerShell, Python) for automation, orchestration, and operational efficiency.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
- Collaborate with cloud, security, and application teams to ensure seamless migration execution.
- Troubleshoot migration issues across networking, storage, compute, and application layers.
Required Skills
- Strong experience with Azure Storage services including Blob, File Shares, and Managed Disks.
- Hands‑on expertise with NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO) and Azure NetApp Files migration.
- Deep understanding of Azure Migration tools: Azure Migrate, Data Box, Storage Migration Service.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) for cloud transformation.
- Experience with DevOps tools: Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitLab for CI/CD and automation.
- Proficiency in containerization (Docker/Podman) and Kubernetes-based workloads.
- Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Experience performing cloud assessments, workload analysis, and migration strategy development.
- Practical knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
Nice‑to‑Have
- Experience with Azure Landing Zones.
- Knowledge of hybrid environments and ExpressRoute/VPN configurations.
- Familiarity with cost optimization and FinOps practices in Azure.
- Relevant certifications (AZ‑104, AZ‑305, AZ‑700, AZ‑140, or NetApp certifications).
