ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a highly driven Azure DevOps Engineer with 2–6 years of hands-on experience managing live production environments. Employed by EITB Global and embedded within the Metagenix.ai product team, this role requires end-to-end ownership of CI/CD pipelines, Azure infrastructure, deployments, monitoring, security, and cloud cost optimisation across multiple AI-powered environments.
You will work closely with software engineers, product managers, and the Head of Operations (Australia) to ensure reliable, automated, and scalable delivery pipelines. This is a high-ownership position with a clear growth path toward DevOps Lead within EITB Global.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
CI/CD & Deployment Ownership
- Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
- Handle live deployments, staging setup, and rollback strategies across environments.
- Manage runtime and version upgrades (Node.js, Python, etc.) with zero downtime.
- Ensure stable, structured release processes across all product lines.
- Reduce deployment failures through automation and process improvements.
- Monitor and troubleshoot CI/CD pipeline failures within Azure environments.
- Coordinate with developers to resolve build and deployment breakages.
- Establish controlled release and rollback processes to minimise production risk.
Cloud & Infrastructure Management
- Provision and manage Azure VMs, networking, and Resource Groups.
- Monitor infrastructure performance and capacity — CPU, RAM, Disk I/O.
- Conduct periodic Azure cost reviews and recommend optimisation strategies.
- Perform server configuration, tuning, and performance audits.
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or ARM Templates.
- Suggest infrastructure improvements aligned with product and business needs.
Application Stack & Environment Management
- Deploy and manage applications built on Node.js, Python, and React.
- Configure and manage Nginx, PM2, and application process managers.
- Ensure compatibility and parity across staging and production environments.
- Manage environment variables, secrets, and dependency configurations.
- Troubleshoot application-server-database connectivity and performance issues.
Monitoring, Health & Security
- Monitor system health and manage downtime alerts proactively.
- Configure and maintain monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, New Relic, or Prometheus/Grafana.
- Handle SSL setup, renewals, and HTTPS security compliance.
- Perform periodic infrastructure and security audits.
- Implement backup automation and disaster recovery strategies.
- Execute rollback plans promptly during failed deployments or incidents.
- Manage Azure Key Vault, RBAC policies, and secrets securely across environments.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Communication
- Work closely with developers during deployments, debugging, and incident resolution.
- Coordinate with Product Managers for release scheduling and risk assessment.
- Provide structured infrastructure updates to Engineering Lead and leadership team.
- Communicate clearly and proactively during incidents and post-recovery reviews.
- Participate in retrospectives and contribute to continuous process improvement.
Leadership & Process Improvement
- Guide and support junior DevOps or infrastructure team members.
- Improve automation to reduce manual operational overhead.
- Document DevOps standards, deployment workflows, and runbooks.
- Act as the escalation point for infrastructure-related issues across teams.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- 2–6 years of hands-on DevOps or Cloud Engineering experience in a production environment.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure — VMs, AKS, App Services, networking, and resource management.
- Proven experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
- Solid Linux server administration skills (Ubuntu / CentOS / RHEL).
- Hands-on experience with IaC tools — Terraform (preferred) or ARM Templates / Bicep.
- Experience deploying and managing Node.js, Python, and React applications.
- Familiarity with Cloudflare, DNS management, and SSL configuration.
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as Azure Monitor, New Relic, or Prometheus.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-product environment.
- Strong communication skills — ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Microsoft Azure certification — AZ-104 or AZ-400 (Azure DevOps Engineer Expert).
- Experience with container orchestration using Kubernetes (AKS) and Helm.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps practices — SonarQube, Trivy, or OWASP ZAP.
- Familiarity with GitOps workflows using ArgoCD or Flux.
- Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure or data pipeline environments.
- Experience working in Agile / Scrum delivery environments.
