Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Azure Data Engineer role based in Bengaluru. The Azure Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data platforms on Microsoft Azure, including ingestion, transformation, and storage solutions. The role involves implementing and optimizing ETL/ELT processes, developing data models to support analytics and reporting, and working closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand requirements. The engineer will manage and tune Azure data services (such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL/SQL MI, and Data Lake), ensure data quality and reliability, and contribute to data governance and security best practices. Daily responsibilities also include monitoring data workflows, troubleshooting production issues, documenting solutions, and participating in code reviews and agile ceremonies.
Qualifications
- Strong data engineering skills, including Data Engineering fundamentals, building data pipelines, and working with large-scale data solutions on Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with Data Modeling, including dimensional and relational models to support analytics, BI, and reporting needs.
- Hands-on expertise with Extract Transform Load (ETL) or ELT processes, including designing, implementing, and optimizing data ingestion and transformation workflows.
- Practical knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts, architectures, and best practices, including star/snowflake schemas and metadata management.
- Exposure to Data Analytics, including enabling self-service analytics, supporting dashboards and reports, and collaborating with analysts and data scientists.
- Proficiency with Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake Storage).
- Strong skills in SQL and at least one programming or scripting language commonly used in data engineering (e.g., Python, Scala).
- Understanding of data governance, data security, and compliance practices, including role-based access control and data privacy considerations.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and document solutions effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
