About The Role
The Senior Azure Data Engineer role at HGS is a full-time position based in Hyderabad or Indore, India. The successful candidate will join our dynamic Cloud Analytics practice, focusing on designing, developing, and implementing scalable Azure-based data solutions. This role requires a self-motivated individual with a strong passion for business analytics and data engineering. The candidate will work closely with clients and internal teams to understand business objectives, translate requirements into high-performance Azure analytics solutions, and contribute to end-to-end cloud data projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of cloud technology, leveraging Azure services to enable data-driven decision-making and business growth.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, with a Master’s degree preferred. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in data engineering is required, with at least 3 years dedicated to working with Microsoft Azure cloud platforms. Candidates should have extensive knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, data streams, and file stores. Proficiency in Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, and Azure Analysis Services is essential. Strong programming skills in SQL and Python are mandatory, along with experience working on Spark platforms. Certifications such as Azure Data Engineer Associate are highly desirable, and familiarity with PowerBI, Snowflake, and SnowPro certifications will be considered advantageous. The candidate must demonstrate excellent communication skills, a solid understanding of formal system implementation methodologies, and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across business and technical teams.
Responsibilities
The Senior Azure Data Engineer will be responsible for understanding the existing data landscape and aligning solutions with client business objectives. Key responsibilities include translating explicit and implicit client requirements into scalable, efficient Azure analytics solutions, and modifying existing solutions to optimize performance or incorporate new functionalities. The role involves ensuring high-quality deliverables from both individual and team efforts, providing regular progress updates, and offering meaningful feedback. The candidate will explore evolving data technologies and leverage cloud innovations to create new opportunities for clients. They will also contribute to presales activities such as preparing proposals, proofs of concept, and demonstrations. Additionally, the engineer will manage data ingestion, transformation, and egress processes from multiple sources, including SAP, within the Azure environment. Ensuring data security, privacy, and compliance is a critical aspect of the role, alongside designing and implementing robust Azure analytics solutions. Collaboration with business stakeholders to accurately gather and meet data requirements is essential, as is monitoring and maintaining the health of data systems.
