About the role

This role will involve working closely with underwriters, Alternative Risk Solutions professionals and primarily the Head of Structured Risk Solutions (SRS), Americas. You will be involved in all aspects of SRS Pricing and will contribute to the underwriting process by providing an independent technical premium to underwriters for large Structured Risk Solutions deals. You will represent the Pricing team for SRS matters internally and externally, presenting your pricing indications. This role provides an opportunity to support the future growth of SRS business at AXAXL, which has been designated as a growth initiative. To facilitate the growth initiative, you will draw on your pricing experience, developing scalable pricing processes aligned to market best practice. You will be a subject matter expert on pricing SRS deals at AXAXL. You will have exposure to both UW and Actuarial leadership teams through quarterly business reporting meetings, and annual planning process. You will have significant freedom to work independently but will also work closely with the UK SRS Pricing Actuary to ensure consistency in approach. What you’ll be doing What will your essential responsibilities include? Colleague Interactions Represent pricing and analytics in product meetings Coordinate with Global Product Pricing Actuaries Understand data and processes and propose improvements that will enhance analysis and efficiency of the pricing process in a manner commensurate to the profit Actuarial Pricing Analysis Your key responsibility will be pricing complex (re)insurance deals, including supporting the structuring of the transactions Perform Independent Profitability Analyses as needed to provide business guidance to Underwriting Build understanding of Global Specialty business segment through appropriate participation in various other analyses including audits of pricing tool data and rate level analysis Underwriting and Pricing Tools Development of new pricing tools, and the associated pricing process Conduct Case Price Referrals for deals that fall out of scope of the pricing model Provide training and guidance to underwriters on pricing model Calibration of rating factors as data allows Ongoing maintenance and enhancement of pricing model to enable better underwriting decisions Review and monitoring of underwriting metrics Collaborate with the analytics team on improving the pricing model based on new data sources and analytical techniques. Reinsurance Analysis, Risk Management and Regulatory Support Capital modeling support including development of underwriting risk assumptions Provide actuarial pricing support for regulatory reports as required Providing pricing and analytics support for Reinsurance Treaty renewals as needed. You will report to the Head of Pricing for Life, A&H, ELA, CM, S&E and SRS. What you will BRING We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills: Required Skills and Abilities: Qualified actuary (FIA, FCAS or equivalent) Significant experience of non-life insurance pricing (casualty preferred), SRS pricing experience would be ideal Commercial experience of programming (Python / R / SQL) Proficiency in Excel Developed ability to Influence and negotiating skills Leadership skills to work collaboratively with colleagues across functions to build consensus Exceptional analytical skills and verbal communications skills to gain buy-in Excellent written communication skills Robust ability to think strategically and apply critical thinking to solve problems Who WE are AXA XL, the P&C and specialty risk division of AXA, is known for solving complex risks. The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD $118,700 - $207,800. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience and location.
