We are looking for a skilled Mainframe Modernization Engineer with hands-on experience in AWS Transform Tooling, focused on application refactoring and data migration from legacy mainframe systems to modern cloud-native architectures. The role requires strong expertise in mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, IMS) along with exposure to AWS services and a working knowledge of Java-based applications.
🔹 Key Responsibilities
✅ Mainframe Modernization & Refactoring
Analyze, understand, and refactor legacy mainframe applications (COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2) to cloud-native or microservices-based architectures.
Utilize AWS Transform tools/services to modernize and convert legacy workloads.
Translate monolithic batch jobs into scalable AWS workflows.
Ensure functional equivalence and performance optimization post-refactoring.
✅ AWS Transform Tool & Cloud Migration
Leverage AWS Transform capabilities for:
Code refactoring
Batch workload transformation
Dependency analysis
✅ Data Migration & Transformation
Plan and execute data migration from mainframe systems (VSAM,IMS,DB2) to AWS platforms.
Perform data mapping, cleansing, and validation.
Convert legacy data formats into modern formats (CSV, JSON, Parquet).
✅ Mainframe Development & Support
Develop and maintain COBOL programs and JCL scripts.
Troubleshoot production issues in legacy systems.
Optimize batch job performance and scheduling.
Work with job schedulers like Control-M / CA7.
✅ Java & Modern Application Integration
Support integration of modernized services using basic Java development.
Assist in converting business logic from COBOL to Java-based services.
Collaborate with application teams to ensure seamless interoperability between legacy and modern systems.
✅ Quality, Testing & Validation
Perform unit, integration, and regression testing of modernized applications.
Validate migrated data and ensure integrity between source and target systems.
Participate in parallel run and cutover activities.

✅ Mainframe Skills
Strong experience in:
COBOL, JCL
VSAM, DB2
Experience with legacy batch processing systems
✅ AWS & Modernization Skills
Hands-on with:
AWS Transform tools/AWS BluInsight services (for refactoring & migration)
AWS Blucompare, AWS Data Migrator
Understanding of cloud migration and modernization patterns
✅ Programming Skills
COBOL (primary)
Basic to intermediate Java
Python (preferred but optional)
✅ Additional Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
Understanding of application dependency analysis
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
