Role Overview
We are looking for a high-impact AWS expert to lead our Cloud Financial Management (FinOps) strategy. You won't just be "finding" savings; you will be building the systems that automatically enforce them. The ideal candidate has a deep technical background in AWS infrastructure, a developer’s approach to automation, and a sophisticated understanding of the AWS Marketplace ecosystem (EDPs, Private Offers, and PPA).
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering & Automation:
- Design and deploy automated "Janitor" workflows using AWS Lambda, EventBridge, and Python/Go to terminate or right-size waste in real-time.
- Implement Karpenter for EKS to automate the most cost-efficient node provisioning using Spot instances.
- Build Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CDK) guardrails that prevent expensive, non-compliant resources from being deployed.
- Strategic Sourcing & Marketplace:
- Manage the AWS Marketplace lifecycle: negotiating Private Offers and leveraging 3rd-party spend (SaaS/Data) to meet Enterprise Discount Program (EDP) commitments.
- Architect "Spend-Neutral" migrations where Marketplace software costs are offset by AWS infrastructure credits or discounts.
- Financial Governance:
- Own the reservation strategy: Manage and automate the lifecycle of Compute Savings Plans, RIs, and SageMaker Savings Plans.
- Develop custom Looker, Quicksight, or Grafana dashboards that provide unit-economic visibility (e.g., "Cost per API Call" or "Cost per Active User").
Technical Requirements
- AWS Mastery: 5+ years of hands-on experience with core services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS). AWS Solutions Architect (Professional) or DevOps Engineer (Professional) certification is highly preferred.
- The "Automation" Stack: Proven experience with Terraform/Pulumi, Python, and AWS SDKs (Boto3). You must be able to demonstrate a script you’ve written that saved $10k+ per month.
- FinOps Expertise: Deep familiarity with the FinOps Foundation framework. Experience using tools like AWS Cost Explorer, CloudHealth, or Vantage.
- Marketplace Knowledge: Practical experience with CPPO (Channel Partner Private Offers) and managing software licensing via the AWS Marketplace.
The "Unicorn" Qualifications (Bonus)
- Experience with AWS Billing Conductor for complex multi-account chargeback.
- Background in High Performance Computing (HPC) or GenAI cost modeling (optimizing P4/P5 instance clusters).
- Active participation in the FinOps Foundation community.
