About The Role
We are seeking a talented AWS Data Engineer to join our dynamic Data Engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures in the AWS cloud environment. This role will collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and other business stakeholders to deliver robust data solutions that support strategic decision-making and operational excellence. The AWS Data Engineer will play a critical role in architecting end-to-end data platforms, ensuring data quality, security, and accessibility, while optimizing performance and cost-efficiency. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge cloud-based data projects and contribute to the digital transformation initiatives of our clients.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 4+ years of experience in implementing and supporting data lakes, data warehouses, and data applications on AWS for large enterprises. Strong programming skills in Python, Shell scripting, and SQL are essential. Candidates must have extensive experience with AWS services such as CloudFormation, S3, Athena, Glue, EMR/Spark, RDS, Redshift, DynamoDB, Lambda, Step Functions, IAM, KMS, and Secrets Manager. Familiarity with serverless application development and data pipeline orchestration is required. A solid understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and big data technologies is necessary. Candidates should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Preferred qualifications include experience with additional AWS services like API Gateway, ElasticSearch, SQS, and familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform. Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Developer are highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable architecture and code for data pipelines and data applications on AWS.
- Build robust data ingestion pipelines from on-premises systems to AWS and within AWS using services such as Glue, Redshift, S3, Lambda, EMR/Spark, Kinesis, and SQS.
- Develop and manage ETL/ELT processes to collect, process, and store data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security.
- Architect and implement end-to-end data solutions focusing on data lakes and data warehouses, including ingestion, storage, integration, and processing.
- Participate in architecture and system design discussions for high-scale data engineering projects.
- Perform hands-on development, unit testing, and participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices.
- Implement serverless applications using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, and other AWS technologies.
- Migrate data from traditional relational databases, file systems, and APIs to AWS-based data lakes (S3), RDS, Aurora, and Redshift.
- Design and implement high-velocity streaming solutions utilizing Amazon Kinesis, SQS, and Kafka where applicable.
- Architect and implement CI/CD strategies for enterprise data platforms to ensure continuous integration and deployment.
- Collaborate effectively with product teams, operations, QA, and cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, perform proof-of-concept (POC) projects, and onboard new tools and technologies for real-world applications.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize data pipelines for cost, reliability, and scalability.
