Core Technical Skills
1. AWS Services Expertise (Compute, Storage, Database, Serverless, Event Driven)
Compute
- EC2, ECS, EKS
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes core concepts: control plane, pod, deployment, jobs, services, ingress, networking
- Experience with ALB/NLB ingress controller and private EKS cluster setup
Storage
- S3 Cross Region Replication, Versioning
- EFS, EBS
Database
- Aurora PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, RDS
Serverless
- AWS Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway
Event Driven Messaging
- EventBridge, Amazon MSK, SNS, SQS
2. Observability & Monitoring
- Hands-on experience with Amazon managed observability tools:
- Amazon Managed Prometheus
- Amazon Managed Grafana
- ELK / OpenSearch Kibana
- Amazon CloudWatch
- Strong understanding of metrics, logs, dashboards, and alarms
- Good experience with incident management, RCA documentation, and SRE practices
3. Disaster Recovery & Reliability Engineering
- Multi Region and Multi AZ setup, data sync, backup/restore, Active Active and Active Passive strategies
- Strong knowledge of maintaining RTO/RPO targets
- Expertise in backup and failover strategies:
- S3 Versioning, Replication, Object Lock
- Aurora automated backups, snapshots
- DynamoDB on-demand continuous backups
- EBS snapshot lifecycle management
- EKS cluster recreation using Terraform, backing up Kubernetes resources, stateful workloads
- Deep knowledge of Cross Region EKS disaster recovery strategies
4. Development & Automation
- Proficiency in programming languages: Python, Java
- Experience with API development
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools:
- Blue-Green or Canary deployments
- Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform):
- Ability to write reusable and modular Terraform scripts
- Experience with containerization and Kubernetes-based deployments
5. Cloud Operations
- Manage deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance of AWS environments
- Ensure compliance with networking, cloud security, and industry standards
Networking
- VPC, Transit Gateway, Route53, DNS management, health checks, PrivateLink
Security
- Strong understanding of IAM roles and policies
- KMS, Secrets Manager
- WAF, Shield
- Encryption techniques
- Logging and audit readiness
- Ability to support audits and risk assessments
6. Microservices & Distributed Systems
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture
- Experience with containerized services on EKS
- Expertise in REST, gRPC, and asynchronous messaging
- Understanding of auto scaling, service discovery, and distributed system design
- Ability to design loosely coupled, independently deployable services
7. Leadership & Collaboration
- Proven leadership and communication skills
- Ability to mentor team members and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex AWS infrastructure issues
8. Domain & Work Requirements
- Preferable exposure to the Banking domain, especially in compliance-driven environments
