Job Description: AWS Cloud Application Architect (.NET Modernization)
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced AWS Cloud Application Architect to lead the modernization and migration of legacy .NET applications to modern .NET versions using AWS Transform.
The architect will align to the target cloud-native architecture on AWS, lead migration strategies, and ensure applications are optimized for containerized and scalable environments on Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service.
This role requires deep experience in AWS architecture, Kubernetes platforms, .NET modernization, and cloud-native application patterns.
Key Responsibilities
Application Modernization Strategy
- Assess existing legacy .NET Framework applications and define modernization strategies.
- Design migration approaches including: AWS Transform,
- Use AWS Transform tools to automate portions of the migration process.
Cloud Architecture Design
- Design scalable cloud-native architectures on Amazon Web Services.
- Define microservices-based architecture for modernized applications.
- Establish architecture guidelines for containerized workloads on Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service.
Containerization & Platform Engineering
- Design and implement containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Build deployment architecture on EKS including:
- Helm charts
- Kubernetes manifests, deployment patterns
- Autoscaling and resilience strategies
- Docker image strategy
- Service mesh integrations (optional)
AWS Platform Integration
Architect and integrate key AWS services including:
- Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service
- Amazon Elastic Container Registry
- AWS CodePipeline / AWS CodeBuild / ADO / GitHub Actions
- Amazon CloudWatch / DataDog
- AWS Lambda
- Terraform (optional)
.NET Application Migration
- Lead modernization from:
- .NET Framework → .NET 6 / .NET 8
- Refactor monolithic systems into modular or microservice architectures.
- Resolve compatibility issues including:
- Windows dependencies
- Legacy libraries
- Configuration management.
Governance & Best Practices
- Establish architecture standards for:
- security
- observability
- scalability
- resilience
- Ensure AWS Well-Architected Framework alignment.
Required Skills
Cloud Architecture
- Strong experience with Amazon Web Services architecture
- Hands-on experience with Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service
- Experience designing container-based platforms
AWS Modernization Tools
Experience with:
- AWS Transform
- Container orchestration
- CI/CD automation
Architecture & Design
Strong knowledge of:
- Microservices architecture
- Event-driven architecture
- Domain-driven design
- API-driven architecture
- Cloud-native design patterns
Preferred Experience
- Prior enterprise-scale .NET modernization projects
- Migration of monolithic applications to container platforms
- Experience implementing Kubernetes platform architectures
- Exposure to platform engineering practices
Experience
- 10+ years of software engineering experience
- 5+ years of AWS architecture experience
- Prior .NET migration or modernization programs
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science / Engineering / Information Technology
