Description
The Powder Coater is responsible for assisting with preparation, handling, and basic coating operations under close supervision. This position supports senior powder coaters by ensuring materials are properly masked, hung, and staged, and may perform simple coating tasks as training progresses. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and a willingness to learn powder coating techniques.
- Assist in preparing materials for coating, including masking, plugging, taping, and hanging parts.
- Safely handle and move materials to and from spray booths and curing ovens.
- Support powder coating operations by loading and unloading racks and carts.
- Operate basic coating equipment under direct supervision for simple tasks or touch-ups.
- Perform basic cleaning of powder coating equipment and booths during color changes.
- Inspect materials for obvious defects or preparation issues before coating.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and higher-level powder coaters closely and accurately.
- Follow directions from supervisors and team leads accurately.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Engage in clear and constructive communication with team members and leadership to foster teamwork and open dialogue with peers and management.
- Consistently embody and uphold the company's values and principles in every task and responsibility.

Requirements
- No prior powder coating experience required; prior manufacturing or paint shop experience preferred.
- Ability to learn powder coating processes, safety standards, and quality requirements.
- Comfortable lifting, moving, and positioning heavy materials (60–100 lbs.) with assistance.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Commitment to safety and willingness to wear required PPE.
Respirator Requirement:
Certain positions require the use of respiratory protection. Employees must successfully complete a medical evaluation, respirator fit testing (when tight-fitting respirators are required), and respirator training as part of the company's Respiratory Protection Program.
Employees must be able to wear respiratory protection for extended periods of time. For positions requiring tight-fitting respirators, employees must maintain a clean-shaven face where the respirator seals against the skin.
Certain powder coating positions may use a supplied-air respiratory system located in the powder coating booth. These systems utilize loose-fitting hoods or helmets and may not require employees to be clean-shaven. Respirator requirements will be determined based on the specific job assignment and equipment used.
