Assistant Vice President – Underwriting (P&C Insurance)

Role Overview
Seeking a seasoned Underwriting Operations Leader to manage end-to-end P&C underwriting delivery, covering submission, pre-bind, bind, and post-bind servicing for a global insurance client. The role combines domain expertise, large-scale team leadership, and transformation focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead UWS lifecycle: Submission intake, exposure analysis, pre-bind (rating, quoting, underwriting support), bind (binder issuance), and post-bind activities
- Manage policy issuance, endorsements, cancellations, and NCDs (Non-Cash Disbursements)
- Own delivery for 150–200 FTEs, ensuring SLA/KPI adherence (TAT, quality, productivity)
- Act as primary client interface; drive governance and stakeholder management
- Standardize underwriting processes across UK markets
- Manage renewal and reinsurance cycles with operational stability
- Drive automation (RPA), Six Sigma, and efficiency initiatives
- Mentor teams and build strong underwriting capability & career paths
Requirements
- 12+ years in P&C underwriting operations (UWS)
- Strong experience across submission → pre-bind → bind → endorsements/NCDs
- Proven leadership of large teams (50+ / large span)
- Background in BPO/KPO (EXL, Cognizant, WNS, Exceedance, etc.)
- Strong data, process excellence, and client management skills
- Excellent communication and executive presence
