Job Description: AVP – Quality Engineering (QE) & Test Transformation
Location: India (Bengaluru / Hyderabad)
Experience: 16–22+ years
Reporting to: CPO / Engineering Leadership
Role Overview
The AVP – Quality Engineering will lead enterprise-wide QE transformation, moving quality from traditional testing to a modern, automation-led, product-aligned QE function. This role will define the QE vision, strategy, operating model, and transformation roadmap, while partnering closely with product engineering, platform teams, DevOps, and business stakeholders.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has built and scaled QE practices, driven shift-left quality, and embedded quality deeply into Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
QE Transformation & Strategy
- Define and drive the QE transformation roadmap aligned to product and digital engineering goals.
- Transition testing teams from manual / siloed QA to automation-first, continuous quality engineering.
- Champion shift-left and shift-right quality practices, including testability, observability, and production quality metrics.
- Establish QE standards, frameworks, and governance models across programs.
Automation & Tooling Leadership
- Drive adoption and standardization of test automation frameworks across UI, API, mobile, and data layers.
- Lead QE strategy across:
- Functional & non-functional testing
- Performance, security, and resilience testing
- Test data management and environment strategy
- Evaluate and onboard modern tools in automation, AI-assisted testing, and quality analytics.
Product & Agile Alignment
- Embed QE deeply within Agile / Scrum / SAFe delivery models.
- Partner with Product Managers, Engineering Leaders, and Architects to ensure quality is built into design and development.
- Enable CI/CD-integrated testing pipelines and continuous feedback loops.
Delivery & Client Engagement
- Act as a senior QE advisor for large transformation programs and strategic clients.
- Support pre-sales and solutioning for QE-led transformation deals and proposals.
- Present QE strategy, metrics, and transformation outcomes to CXO-level stakeholders.
Practice Building & People Leadership
- Build, mentor, and scale high-performing QE teams and leaders.
- Define career paths, competency models, and upskilling programs for QE talent.
- Drive a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Required Experience & Background
- 16–22+ years of experience in Quality Engineering / Test Transformation / Engineering Excellence.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale QE transformation programs.
- Strong experience in automation frameworks, Agile/DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience working with product engineering, platform, and digital transformation teams.
- Exposure to enterprise-scale programs across multiple geographies preferred.
- Experience in IT services / digital engineering organizations strongly preferred.
