Aerion Aerospace Pvt Ltd is building unmanned aerial systems for agriculture, industrial operations, surveillance, cleaning automation, and defense applications. Our focus is on developing deeply integrated aerial platforms combining avionics, embedded systems, autonomy, AI, communications, and mission-critical operational software.
We are looking for a highly capable Avionics Design & System Integration Engineer with strong expertise in UAV avionics, embedded systems, autopilot integration, flight control systems, and real-world aerial platform validation.
Role Overview
This role is focused on the design, integration, testing, and optimization of advanced avionics systems for multirotor, VTOL, FPV, and autonomous UAV platforms.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working across avionics hardware, embedded firmware, flight controllers, telemetry systems, power systems, autonomous mission systems, and real-world flight testing environments.
This is a hands-on R&D engineering role requiring deep problem-solving capability and execution under real operational conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and integrate UAV avionics architectures for multirotor, VTOL, FPV, and fixed-wing platforms
- Integrate and configure flight controllers including PX4 and ArduPilot-based systems
- Integrate IMUs, GPS modules, magnetometers, barometers, LiDAR systems, telemetry modules, EO/IR cameras, and mission payloads
- Develop avionics hardware layouts and support PCB design workflows using tools such as Altium or KiCad
- Develop and debug embedded firmware in C/C++ for sensor interfacing and real-time control systems
- Implement autonomous mission workflows using MAVLink, Drone Kit, and telemetry-based mission execution systems
- Perform autopilot tuning and Stability Augmentation System optimization for longitudinal, lateral, and directional flight dynamics
- Conduct simulation and validation using MATLAB/Simulink, SIL/HIL workflows, and flight simulation environments
- Design and validate UAV power systems including power distribution, voltage regulation, redundancy systems, and battery integration
- Integrate MAVProxy and Ground Control Station systems for mission planning, diagnostics, and telemetry monitoring
- Perform full-cycle prototype integration including wiring, assembly, calibration, testing, and deployment validation
- Conduct field flight testing including preflight validation, telemetry analysis, flight log diagnostics, and post-flight analysis
- Troubleshoot EMI/EMC issues, signal integrity problems, sensor failures, and avionics reliability challenges
- Coordinate closely with embedded, AI, software, mechanical, and operations teams for complete system integration
- Research and evaluate avionics components, compute modules, sensors, communication systems, and payload technologies
- Prepare engineering documentation including wiring diagrams, ICDs, calibration procedures, integration SOPs, and validation reports
- Ensure compliance with reliability, safety, airworthiness, and mission-critical operational standards
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of UAV avionics systems and aerospace electrical architectures
- Experience with PX4, ArduPilot, MAVLink ecosystem, and autopilot configuration
- Strong embedded systems knowledge with C/C++ development experience
- Experience integrating telemetry systems, RF communication systems, and UAV networking stacks
- Understanding of UAV control systems and flight dynamics
- Experience with sensor integration and real-time data systems
- Strong debugging capability for avionics and embedded hardware systems
- Knowledge of power electronics and UAV battery systems
- Familiarity with Ground Control Systems and mission planning software
- Ability to perform hardware diagnostics and root-cause analysis under field conditions
Preferred Skills
- Experience with NVIDIA Jetson or edge AI compute platforms
- Experience with autonomous navigation and sensor fusion systems
- Knowledge of ROS, DroneKit, MAVProxy, and autonomous mission frameworks
- Experience with defense-grade UAV systems or industrial UAV platforms
- Exposure to GNSS-denied navigation systems and advanced autonomy stacks
- Experience with thermal payloads, gimbals, and ISR systems
- Understanding of EMI/EMC mitigation techniques for aerospace systems
Education
B.E./B.Tech in Avionics, Electronics, Aerospace, Embedded Systems, Robotics, Mechatronics, or related fields
