Summary:
We are looking for experienced Automotive Exterior Plastic Trim Design Engineers with strong expertise in designing and developing automotive exterior plastic components using CATIA V5. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in the complete product development lifecycle of exterior trim components such as bumpers, grilles, DRL covers, exterior panels, and related plastic parts for OEMs or Tier-1 automotive suppliers.
- Design and develop automotive exterior plastic trim components including:
- Front & Rear Bumper Systems
- Grilles
- DRL Covers
- Exterior Panels
- Plastic Covers and Trim Components
- Create high-quality 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using CATIA V5.
- Develop components in compliance with OEM design standards, manufacturing feasibility, quality, cost, and performance requirements.
- Perform concept development, detailed design, engineering changes, and design validation.
- Ensure designs comply with plastic design guidelines, DFM (Design for Manufacturing), DFA (Design for Assembly), and tooling requirements.
- Apply knowledge of injection molding processes and plastic material selection during product development.
- Work closely with Styling, CAE, Manufacturing, Tooling, Suppliers, and Cross-functional Engineering teams.
- Participate in design reviews and customer discussions.
- Support prototype development, testing, issue resolution, and engineering change management.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, BOMs, design reports, and release documentation.
Technical Skills:
- Strong expertise in CATIA V5 (Part Design, Assembly Design, Drafting).
- Experience in automotive exterior plastic component design.
- Good understanding of plastic product design principles.
- Knowledge of injection molding design guidelines.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Bumper Systems
- Grilles
- DRL Covers
- Exterior Trim Components
- Plastic Covers
- Exterior Panels
- Understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
- Knowledge of DFM, DFA, tolerance stack-up, and tooling considerations.
- Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, and engineering change management is an added advantage.
Candidates should have experience working with:
- Automotive OEMs
- Tier-1 Automotive Suppliers
- Automotive Engineering Service Companies
