Automation QE / SDET | Playwright | TypeScript | AI Project Experience | Financial Services | UK Hours
Rate: £150 per day
Duration: 3 months + (highly likely this will extend)
Days: 3 to 5 days per week
Location: Fully remote (offshore / India)
Start: 1st October (Non Negotiable)
Requirement: Excellent written and spoken English and able to work UK hours (Non Negotiable)
Only candidates with strong hands-on Playwright automation experience and recent AI project exposure in regulated environments will be considered. (non negioatable)
Optimal are working exclusively with a well-established financial services organisation who need an experienced Automation QE to strengthen their test automation on a fast-moving, business-critical platform with a strong AI focus.
This is a hands-on role for someone who lives and breathes automation frameworks, understands payments-grade quality, uses AI tools daily to work smarter, and has recent experience testing on an AI-driven project.

- Senior SDET / Automation QE experience in highly regulated financial or payments systems
- Recent hands-on experience working on an AI project or AI-driven product
- Uses AI tools daily in your workflow to boost productivity and quality
- Strong hands-on Playwright (TypeScript / JavaScript) framework design - POM, fixtures, reusable utilities
- Proven UI and API automation across REST services and end-to-end workflows
- Messaging experience (IBM MQ or similar)
- Backend validation using SQL (Oracle / Postgres)
- CI/CD integration - GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions
- Able to work UK hours with excellent written and spoken English
What you'll bring to the role:
- Designing, building, and maintaining enterprise-grade Playwright frameworks for scalable UI and API automation
- Applying automation expertise to a live AI project, validating behaviour and reliability of AI-driven features
- Using AI tools day-to-day to accelerate test creation, coverage, and delivery
- Automating end-to-end workflows across UI, REST APIs, messaging, and backend services
- Integrating automation into CI/CD for parallel execution, push-triggered runs, and multi-environment regression
- Leading modern automation adoption and driving stability, speed, and maintainability over legacy Selenium approaches
- A strong shift-left mindset, collaborating closely with developers, DevOps, and architects to embed quality early
- Clear, confident communication with a globally distributed team
