Job Title: Automation Proposal Engineer (Yokogawa Systems)
Location: Bangalore, India

Job Summary
The Automation Proposal Engineer is responsible for preparing techno-commercial proposals for Yokogawa’s automation solutions, including Distributed Control Systems, Safety Instrumented Systems, SCADA and field instrumentation. The role involves close coordination with sales, engineering, and global teams to deliver competitive and compliant proposals for process industries such as Oil & Gas, Energy, Chemicals, and Pharmaceuticals.
Key Responsibilities
• Review RFQs, tender documents, and customer specifications for automation projects
• Prepare complete techno-commercial proposals for Yokogawa solutions (DCS, SIS, SCADA, Instrumentation, Analytics)
• Design system architecture based on Yokogawa
• Develop Bill of Materials (BOM) and detailed cost estimation using internal tools and guidelines
• Identify technical deviations, risks, and assumptions during proposal preparation
• Collaborate with other stake holders like central material management, product teams, and suppliers for inputs
• Support sales and business development teams during customer discussions and clarifications
• Participate in technical meetings, bid clarifications, and risk review sessions
• Ensure compliance with Yokogawa standards, quality procedures, and client specifications
• Prepare value-based solutions including digital transformation, asset management, and IIoT offerings
• Maintain proposal documentation and improve proposal processes
Required Skills & Competencies
• Strong understanding of process automation systems (DCS, PLC, SIS, SCADA)
• Knowledge of Yokogawa systems (CENTUM VP, ProSafe-RS) is highly preferred
• Experience in proposal engineering, estimation, and tendering
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, control philosophies, cause & effect diagrams
• Understanding of process industries (Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, Power, Pharma etc.)
• Familiarity with international standards (IEC, ISA, SIL concepts)
• Strong analytical, costing, and documentation skills
• Good communication and stakeholder coordination abilities
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation / Electrical / Electronics / Control Engineering
• 2–7 years of relevant experience in automation proposals / pre-sales / estimation
